Whenever I make a velvet jacket, I always make sure that everything is really nailed down, especially the collar, the facing to the front edge and the lapels to the forepart. The collar has eight different rows of hand stitching attaching the velvet cloth to the collar canvas and melton, and into the neck circle of the coat. What’s wrong with these sleeves ? **THE CORRECT ANSWER HAS BEEN FOUND READ THE COMMENTS FOR THE ANSWER ** Well done to all who had a pop at the problem. And to be clear, there is a fault with the sleeves. This isn’t my coat, but I’ve cut the coat. The fault isn’t always that clear to see, or find whilst I’m wearing the coat, but it does show itself more clearly in the pictures of the coat on my dummy. Let’s hear your thoughts on the fault, and your possible solutions to said fault. Obviously I’ll correct the sleeves. Measurements provided by the client, and I’m happy that the finished product isn’t too shabby, but I’ve shortened the back rise slightly on the next pair for this gentleman. It’s always a bit dodgy letting clients self measure themselves, and the pitfalls are immense. But with a little bit of confidence, common sense and a clear understanding of the craft, the potential problems can be somewhat abated. This trade client was a cutter at Anderson & Shepp

This trade client was a cutter at Anderson & Sheppard for 25 years. They cut their own suits, and we make our semi-bespoke product for them. A really easy company to work with. A very nice wool, silk and linen blend cloth here, an odd coat (no trousers) with patch pockets. Videos show a forepart before pairing out, and the coat having a gentle press when it’s finished.
